Nasty Gnat was born in a schoolbus in the B.C. backwoods and raised amongst giant sequoias, ferns and fireweed. Later, longing to see more than moss, bark and armpit hair she started island hopping, from the island of Bonaire to Ocracoke Island to Baffin Island till she finally hitch-hiked onto the island of Montreal.

Traumatized by all her childhood bug bites, Nasty Gnat decided to unleash her fury by becoming one herself, as one of Les Contrabanditas.
